SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data.

Understanding how proteins self-assemble ("protein folding") is a holy grail of modern molecular biophysics. What makes it such a great challenge is its complexity, which renders simulations of folding extremely computationally demanding and difficult to understand.
Folding@home group has developed a new way to simulate protein folding ("distributed dynamics") which should remove the previous barriers to simulating protein folding. However, this method is extremely computationally demanding and they need your help .

Linux-Mandrake TM  is a friendly Linux Operating System which specializes in ease-of-use for both the home/office and servers. It is freely available in many languages throughout the world.

Perhaps the biggest disappointments were the ones you expected anyway.
